Christie Lamb has been described as ‘the full package’, a vibrant multi-instrumental award winning singer songwriter. The talented songstress was voted ‘CMC New Oz Artist of the Year 2015’ by Australian Country Music Fans and has followed on from this success to receive the most prestigious award in Australian Country Music, a Golden Guitar for ‘CMAA New Talent of the Year 2016’.
Winning both these awards is an extraordinary achievement, especially as Christie was just 23 years of age and an independent artist at this time.
With a plethora of prestigious awards under her belt, Christie closed out 2016 by signing with ABC Music and subsequently releasing her first single, ‘Flamethrower’ through the leading Australian label. Flamethrower was selected as Country Pick on Foxtel’s Country Music Channel and reached #1 on Kix Radio Network and The Music Network (2 weeks). Her second album, ‘Loaded’, was released via ABC Music early 2017 and scored a #2 placing on the ARIA Country Album Charts in amongst some very high profile releases.
Christie’s debut album ‘All She Wrote’ also debuted at #2 on the ARIA Australian Artist Country Chart in 2014 following her sold out Album Launch in Sydney. The album hit #1 on the Aria Hit Seekers Album Chart (All Genres) and the subsequent five radio releases spurned three #1 hit singles and two top 5 singles.
As a result, Christie Lamb was hailed as ‘the one to watch’ by Country Music Industry insiders including Country Music Legend, Lee Kernaghan. As Lee concurs, “Christie is an incredible artist; not only an amazing singer, she is also an extremely talented multi-instrumental musician. I reckon Christie Lamb is the one to watch. She is a star of the future”.
Christie has been touring relentlessly, not only with her own dates, but also with Lee Kernaghan for the past 3 years, opening the show, playing piano and mandolin with Lee’s band and singing the female songs and duets with Lee from his albums.
She has also previously joined Aussie Rock legend Jon English for ‘The Rock Revolution’ tour, Amber Lawrence and Aleyce Simmonds for ‘The Girls of Country’ tour, plus The Wolfe Brothers for the ‘This Crazy Life’ tour, playing many sold out shows and rapidly building further on her constantly expanding fan base.
Christie has subsequently been booked on all of Australia’s Premier Country events and festivals. After her Main Stage performance at the Deni Ute Muster 2016, Christie was also invited back on stage to perform a duet with International Country Superstar Keith Urban in front of thousands of Country Music fans.
From her early days arriving in Australia, to her current status as an award-winning artist, Christie has earned the accolades and success she is currently enjoying.
Born in Nottingham, England, Christie moved to Australia aged 6 and attended a Performing Arts School for dance, drama and music. During her final year of high school, she was selected as one of two vocalists to play as part of the HSC Music Encore Showcase at the Sydney Opera House, remarkably for her own composition. After also graduating from the Talent Development Project at Sydney Entertainment Centre and the CMAA College of Country Music Tamworth, Christie then went on to complete a Bachelor of Music at The University of Western Sydney on a full scholarship, all the while touring and building her name within the local scene.
It’s been a whirlwind of success for the talented songstress: from releasing her debut EP in 2012 and smashing on to the Australian Country Music scene, to being a signed recording artist and Golden Guitar winner, sharing the stage with some of the industry’s greatest artists.
The year ahead won’t slow down for Christie. Not only will she be touring with her new album in 2017, she will also join Lee Kernaghan again on his upcoming ‘25 Year Anniversary Tour.’ What else is to come for Christie Lamb is undoubtedly going to be one exhilarating ride and one you won’t want to miss!
